State Offers Firewood Program to Residents

Did you know that the State of Vermont offers a program where residents can cut firewood on state land?  Residents can sign up to be assigned a lot that will contain approximately 3 cords of firewood, and for $30 can come cut it and take it home. 

Trees in WinterThe lot will be no further than 100-200 yards from the road.  Vehicles such as skidders, all-terrain vehicles and tractors are not allowed.

There are 45 lots in the Springfield District that are in Bridgewater, Cavendish, Grafton, Ludlow, Plymouth, Rockingham, Sharon, Weathersfield, and Weston.  The Rutland District contains 35 lots in Castleton and Shrewsbury. 

The deadline issued by the Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation to sign up is February 6.
